my favorite part when i go to the singapore zoo? the penguins! 

there's just something about them that makes me feel like i could just sit in front of them. watching the little things move, splash into the water, swim and swish around. maybe the frustrated swimmer in me is envious? 

Project 2011: 14 - valentines day

i started out valentines day thinking it was but an ordinary day.

it had been my third consecutive valentine's day on a foreign country and my third consecutive one apart from J. (on a sidenote, valentines day abroad is not really that much of a fuss as it is in the PI.)

anyhow, i didn't come out empty-handed that day. one of the guys from the office, literally gave ALL the ladies chocolates and a flower on that day! sweet, right?

meet viola.
for how many months, i've been looking for a casual girly watch i can use everyday. i saw her, admired her, and never got to try her on because well, i wasn't really in a hurry to get her.

on my birthday, james' bag was unusually full and bulky. since he had an upcoming business trip and he was taking stuff from the office, i didn't take it as unusual.

but just before he went home, he casually opened his bag, took out his paper bag and gave me her! i was beyond speechless.
on our shared "fake birthday" apart, i was with his mom and bro doing groceries. i didn't suspect anything, his brother just pulled out chocolates from the shelf and i was telling him to open it so i'd ask for a piece (suyaon na bata, i know). he teasingly told me i should buy my own. we paid for the groceries, and they were on their way home when they handed me the chocolates, telling me it was J's specific request. wow, another speechless moment!

after all these time, just when i thought i have you all read out, you pull out thoughtful surprises in front of me when i wasn't even expecting anything. and here i am, giddier and happier than ever. it's amazing how your simple, sweet, thoughtful gestures go a long, long way. thank you :>

don't you love pleasant surprises? the type you don't expect nor wait for and it just pops out at your doorstep? mine literally arrived in my doorstep, a few days before valentine's day. like i said, i wasn't really expecting anything so imagine how happy, touched, ecstatic, giddy and giggly i felt when i got this package.

just when you thought you already know what's going to happen or not happen, or just when you though you know what someone could or not do, they surprise you.

needless to say, obviously, it made my day. my week, even. thanks, james. :D

Project 2010: 11 - an artist's palette

sunset.

a wonderful mixture of colors in the sky. dashes and hints of orange, blue and yellow. and lots of colors in between.

for that moment, the sky was one big canvas and an artist splashed colorful paint from the palette all over it.

beautiful. just beautiful.

Proj 43 of 365: the kiss of dusk

in the middle of the night, when no one is watching, a miracle happens. and this miracle continues to happen regularly each day.

for the first few moments, it was light and darkness fighting over, a struggle for power. like a tug of war over who’ll dominate the endless skies. like lovers, meeting in the sky, light and dark for a moment, briefly kissed and parted ways.

then the first rays of sunlight came through.

Proj 41 or 365: crossing over

the view before me was endless water. a peek of a bit of land and a sign of an island far, far away.

crossing over the endless blue, not really knowing what’s on the other end. but somehow, you know, with every hum-hum of the pumpboat, that you’re an inch closer to paradise.
