Proj 89 of 365 - Basketball champ
bag left in the counter. arms in position. serious faces. a serious position and stance. i try to elevate my heel as i aim to shoot hoops. to a passerby, i may have looked like i was up for championships. but really, i was just concentrating on getting a score - anything!
i shoot. it hits outside the ring. i shoot again. it hits inside, but gets thrown back, like food that it decides, after tasting it, that it will not eat after all. rejected. it was disappointing to have an “almost there“. then i try again. at last, i got lucky!
my hands were sore after shooting baskets. but i was proud of my accomplishment - 74 points. nevermind that james got 115 (i was hoping nobody would notice that, though). the important point is i didn’t get a 0.

Proj 59 of 365: checkmate!
don't be too impressed yet, i am not a chess genius.
i know the pieces, their places, their names and moves.
but just the basics.
making winning strategies is another thing - give me checkers, i may have a chance.
i remember in 5th grade when i had to match with our batch's chess wizard and i was just a starter! the team rep was desperate and saw me as someone who can differentiate a pawn from a rook and signed me up for the job. i knew i was going to lose, but at least not via default. the game only lasted for 5 minutes, but out of desperation i even attempted the "three-move checkmate" which my opponent easily caught on and blocked!
the game finished too soon with my opponent not even breaking a sweat and i was just glad it was all over.
p.s. by the way, chess pieces aren't arranged in the board that way in the picture. i didn't notice the misplaced pieces until i was putting the set back to the shelf. my usual OC self had to put every piece to where it should belong as i smiled to myself.
at least i knew where each piece should be, someone else surely doesn't. :p

Proj 58 of 365: in between pins and gutters
it's true, bowling balls have minds of their own.
when we're looking, they may look still and motionless but try playing bowling and you'll see the naughty buggers that they are.
it seems there's this international syndicate of avenging bowling balls because this always happens to me wherever the bowling alley is.
first, i pick up an innocently light ball and the moment i put it in the alley, it just gets loose. sometimes, it'd go directly to the gutters even if i instructed it not to! the most frustrating part is that even how slowly i push the ball to ensure it'd hit even a pin, it still double-crosses me by running straight for several meters then swerving either to the left or right when the pins are inches away (allergies against pins, maybe?) sometimes, it grows angel wings and in order for me not to get too suspicious, tries not to give me a hard time by giving me freebies - a strike and spare every once in a while as a bribe for my silence.
are you nodding your heads in agreement? if it doesn't happen to you, hear this:

Proj 52 of 365: mario madness
tell me someone who doesn’t recognize mario. impossible, right? having grown up in the Mario boom, super Mario had been immortalized as a universal gaming icon.
i first met the guy when I was about 5, it happened at home with a Nintendo gaming console – the big box where you have to insert gaming cartridges. Super Mario was one of my favorite games. I sucked at it, of course, I never got to finish it, but I so enjoyed smashing bricks, collecting coins, jumping over enemies and on rare occasions, turning invincible after being bestowed the power of the stars.
then came Mario 2, where you can be mario, luigi, toadstool or princess. i always played as princess – she may run slower, jump lower and take her time moving but boy, was she a head-turner with her pink dress and that compensated for everything else.
i don’t know what happened of that old console box, but I somehow got reconnected to mario and princess through james’ handy ds which has been in my hands for ages.
during this reunion with mario, (with a bit of help from the cheats) i got to finish the game and save the princess, too. :)
