Proj 63 of 365: citrus overload
(06.17.09)
rainy days are finally here, so a not-so-welcome hug to colds and the flu who’s making a comeback this season!
if it weren’t for my flu vaccine, i should’ve been leading the pack of sick people by now, starting a trend of runny noses and endless sneezes.
since i've been feeling a tad feverish today, i knew i just have to have vitamin c. with the ah1n1 scare and flus on the bay, it’s never too bad to be on the safe side.

a formula:
a bottle of colorless polish
a pad of nail stickers
and a bored, kikay girl
equals… NAIL ART!!!

(06.14.09)
he's been a steady rock of our lives and his presence always gives a sense of security and safety.
from healing wounds to fevers and chickenpox, to solutions to homework, to guiding us to our career paths and a lot of numerous countless things, he's always a person who you can turn to and you know you'd never be let down.
no matter how tall or old we are, papa, you'd always be someone we look up to!
happy fathers day!

Proj 59 of 365: checkmate!
don't be too impressed yet, i am not a chess genius.
i know the pieces, their places, their names and moves.
but just the basics.
making winning strategies is another thing - give me checkers, i may have a chance.
i remember in 5th grade when i had to match with our batch's chess wizard and i was just a starter! the team rep was desperate and saw me as someone who can differentiate a pawn from a rook and signed me up for the job. i knew i was going to lose, but at least not via default. the game only lasted for 5 minutes, but out of desperation i even attempted the "three-move checkmate" which my opponent easily caught on and blocked!
the game finished too soon with my opponent not even breaking a sweat and i was just glad it was all over.
p.s. by the way, chess pieces aren't arranged in the board that way in the picture. i didn't notice the misplaced pieces until i was putting the set back to the shelf. my usual OC self had to put every piece to where it should belong as i smiled to myself.
at least i knew where each piece should be, someone else surely doesn't. :p

Proj 58 of 365: in between pins and gutters
it's true, bowling balls have minds of their own.
when we're looking, they may look still and motionless but try playing bowling and you'll see the naughty buggers that they are.
it seems there's this international syndicate of avenging bowling balls because this always happens to me wherever the bowling alley is.
first, i pick up an innocently light ball and the moment i put it in the alley, it just gets loose. sometimes, it'd go directly to the gutters even if i instructed it not to! the most frustrating part is that even how slowly i push the ball to ensure it'd hit even a pin, it still double-crosses me by running straight for several meters then swerving either to the left or right when the pins are inches away (allergies against pins, maybe?) sometimes, it grows angel wings and in order for me not to get too suspicious, tries not to give me a hard time by giving me freebies - a strike and spare every once in a while as a bribe for my silence.
are you nodding your heads in agreement? if it doesn't happen to you, hear this:

Proj 56 of 365: magnetized memoirs
(06.08.09)
travelling and discovering places just gives the ultimate high! the feel of excitement gushes in as you think of a new place to conquer, a new culture to appreciate, unique cuisine to sample, different people to meet and greet, and places and tourist spots to visit.
from preparations to packing to having your travel documents stamped on, each little step brings you a little bit closer to your destination and you just can't wait to mark your step in that foreign land.
leaving the foreign land usually sends a mixture of raw emotions and one of them is taking a piece of the place with you to remember the trip by. photographs of the scenery and over-all experience is a must, definitely, but somehow, an ache for memorabilia always catches on.
some would go for tshirts, i know a few who'd go for keychains, others like my grandparents and parents (who are waaaaaaay well-travelled than i am) collect a little bit of everything from plates to spoons to miniature statues like tiny replicas of the Eiffel tower.
for me, i've been having this itch for magnets so i always make it a point to buy at least one at the country i visit to. as you can see, my collection has just started and i still lack one country's memoir (a China magnet for sale, anyone?). my humble collection of magnets don't even have a home yet (somehow i still lack the inspiration where to put them) but i'm hoping in time, my magnets would add up as i fulfill my dreams of jet-setting through the world.
as for now, i'll just close my eyes and make them come true.

Proj 55 of 365: birthday wishes
today's a day filled with birthday parties and treats. a total of three in a day, would you believe!
this shot's the first of a series of three. minnie, my office and teammate, who've been given a kiddie party by the gang, complete with "mini-cakes", jelly-ace, and balloons. boy, i haven't been in a kiddie party for ages!

Proj 53 of 365: time
ever notice how time moves like a snail while watching it’s hands or while waiting for it to pass? painstakingly, second by second, the hands of the clock moves slowly as possible. (try staring at a clock waiting for an hour to pass and see what i mean).
in contrast, don’t you notice how time sneaks up on you and moves as if in a marathon when you’re busy – either on a vacation, enjoying a shuttereye, working real hard to meet a deadline? you could’ve sworn time had been cheating on you, running seconds too fast, like a broken-down taxi meter.
time is but fleeting. so best make the most out of it. carpe diem!

Proj 52 of 365: mario madness
tell me someone who doesn’t recognize mario. impossible, right? having grown up in the Mario boom, super Mario had been immortalized as a universal gaming icon.
i first met the guy when I was about 5, it happened at home with a Nintendo gaming console – the big box where you have to insert gaming cartridges. Super Mario was one of my favorite games. I sucked at it, of course, I never got to finish it, but I so enjoyed smashing bricks, collecting coins, jumping over enemies and on rare occasions, turning invincible after being bestowed the power of the stars.
then came Mario 2, where you can be mario, luigi, toadstool or princess. i always played as princess – she may run slower, jump lower and take her time moving but boy, was she a head-turner with her pink dress and that compensated for everything else.
i don’t know what happened of that old console box, but I somehow got reconnected to mario and princess through james’ handy ds which has been in my hands for ages.
during this reunion with mario, (with a bit of help from the cheats) i got to finish the game and save the princess, too. :)

Proj 50 of 365: the art of waiting
queues, lines, priority numbers. each a tiny little thing we encounter everyday.
first in, first out. first come, first served. we all are but governed by rules and several of those implies the need to wait.
waiting for your turn to be served, spoken to, to be entertained is a daily thing wherever and whenever – be at the restaurant, at a taxi stand, at a government office, at a doctor’s office, or at the loo. and even while waiting for your food to arrive.
unknowingly, patience is a virtue we’ve been mastering every day.

Proj 49 of 365: the sweetest thing
Proj 48 of 365: lost in art
among a lot of things, i suck at art class. don't let me do anything that involves a pair of scissors, crayons, easels, crayons or pencil – you’ll just disappoint yourself. the only masterpiece i can come up with are stick-figured drawings, take it or leave it. on crafts, though, i may have better shot at.
what i lack in arts though, i compensate with admiring the work of those who are gifted in this area. appreciate what you don't have and what you can't do... :D
Proj 47 of 365: a baby's face
chubby, chubby, stubby cheeks. trusting eyes. a small, happy smile.
i swear i have a toddler version pic of this look at home. way cuter and cuddly than now, though.
after all those years, deep down, it seems, i'm still that child.

Proj 46 of 365: a mug for friendship
(05.29.09)
my personalized friends4keeps mug.
a christmas present from deedee last year.
a labor of love and a gift from the heart.
just one of the mementos of a friendship which definitely, is for keeps.
