carrying a DLSR finally has taken it's toll on me. then comes the realization that i am too lazy to set and lug around a gigantaur. so i decided to buy a semi-pro instead. just in time for the upcoming business trip. ;)

J surprised me on the last minute by buying it for me instead. sweet! i kept on teasing him though that it's too much for a "happy august gift" and i'm still expecting a birthday gift. but just joking of course! :)

i chose white (hence the name "snow") because i find it cute and more suitable for my personality and i found the perfect matching camera strap online, which i bought first before the camera (oh well, what can i say, i am a girl!)

so tadaaaa... the camera and the strap. i like the modern vintage feel. we'll definitely make and keep memories together. :)

here's a pic of H and I on the bus ride back to the office. by the looks of our faces, you can tell that we have already been fed. what you cannot tell from looking at us is that we're already past the 12-1PM lunch break!!!

we had lunch at Aston's, and then dinner at Saizeriya. considering it was our first dates abroad (hihi), the restaurants did not disappoint. we got great food without even breaking our purses. :) this one's what I had for dinner - the seafood ala doria at Saizeriya. baked rice, cheese, a lil bit of cream, and seafood - melted and baked, heavenly! :)

i started out valentines day thinking it was but an ordinary day.

it had been my third consecutive valentine's day on a foreign country and my third consecutive one apart from J. (on a sidenote, valentines day abroad is not really that much of a fuss as it is in the PI.)

anyhow, i didn't come out empty-handed that day. one of the guys from the office, literally gave ALL the ladies chocolates and a flower on that day! sweet, right?

i don't know about you, but i always get blisters and sores in my feet when i get a new pair of shoes. it takes at least a week for getting used to, that's why over time, i have learned to put band-aids on for a week (or more) when i have a new pair.

i was stress-testing my new footsies today, hoping they'd "expand" soon. i walked around the mall and to/from the church today, to shoe-train my feet or feet-train my shoes, whichever angle you are looking at.

come a little past lunchtime, my feet were starting to ache. my only consolation? they looked rather pretty while at it.

perhaps the highlight of the batam (indonesia) trip was the sumptuous seafood lunch which welcomed us. i took a shot of all the food - chili crabs, cereal prawn, fish, squid! but this one was the most photogenic of all - shells!!!

it's such an irony though that none of us was a fan of seashells so this was literally untouched.

i was holding 150,000 in bills! i bet that statement alone is enough to make eyes bigger. but hey, here's the catch: the currency is in rupiah, and the conversion is: 1 SGD = 7000 Rupiah = 34 PHP.

with that in mind, what i had in hand was just roughly 600 PHP.

yes, i did have a hard time looking at t-shirts which were tagged at 750,000, and paying for water which cost 6,500 too.

i'm officially 3 months here but i still feel like a tourist. i doubt i can successfully show people and visitors around without getting lost with them too!

but yes, it is true. you'll familiarize yourself more if you walk around and get on the bus compared to riding the tubes.

and here's a wonderful architectural sight while luchee, ken and i were walking from City Hall to Raffles. it was a slow day because we were off for the chinese new year celebration, so we decided to explore around and walk around. it was a sight of buildings and bridges.

it's ironic how you always crave and look for things which aren't there. but when they're within arm's reach, you look for something else!

the same thing can be said of my incessant cravings. i had been craving for shakey's, sbarro's, gerry's, hukad, casa verde, dessert factory, stk and blah blah blah, lately. of course, none can be found here. (except for gerry's which they say just opened a branch somewhere).

i was so happy to see that among other things, PastaMania serves pizza, pasta and calamari that i went on ahead and tried their food. and boy, i did not regret it!

i'll be doing a modified version of 365 this year. after looking back at my 2010 photos, i realized later on last year that my zest had dwindled. i don't really take out blair (my cam) out often, so i ended up taking pictures of what-have-yous using my phone.

looking back again at the 2010 photos, i have been taking a lot of shots of food. dessert, meals, anything edible! :)

part of my to-dos for the year was to learn a thing or two related to cooking. serious cooking.

then a light-bulb moment. i've been starting to learn to cook dinner meals now, and been sending photos of them to the boyfie for "proof". i could just post it all here. :D but mind you, i am relatively a newbie at cooking so don't expect french sounding meals! at least not yet.

i'm now starting with compiling the Project 2010 photos, and in as much as the lazyhead in me wants to give it up, i so loved the output that i'm planning to do a monthly (or something more frequent than that) summary of what went on - in photos - black and white and much, much more. wish me luck then. :D

yes, i know i've been taking a lot of pictures of food lately. K has been calling me the "food photographer" already because it has become a habit for me to take out my phone before i dig in. i've been taking a lot of food pictures lately, and mind you, i don't post them all :D

i've been passing through toa payoh station everyday, and yet i only discovered the "yogurt place" today.

i tried out their froyo immediately. i had the standard sized one, and added coffee beans as topping. they give 10% discount for payments using the ezlink card. it cost me around $4.10, not bad.

red mango is hard to come by, they only have one branch here in esplanade exchange so i always make it a point to try out froyo booths i see. my only disappoint on the yogurt place was the lack of topping options. i wish they had more variety. but oh well, i had my froyo fix and that's what matters... for now. :)

being new in a foreign place, i am always, with a child-like feel and awe of the world, amazed at the new sights and places i see.

this one's outside esplanade, just facing the famous "merlion" and fullerton hotel. i loved the lights, and i instantly regretted not bringing my camera that day. good thing, kenneth took a shot of this using his phone. oh well, there's always a next time to lug around my camera and do some serious photography!

weddings make me happy. there's just something about that fascination for seeing the bride walk down the aisle and as an observer, look at the happy couple as they start their ever after. it just tickles your inner romantic. and of course, it's a great time to gather up the family and friends as they give their well wishes to the couple.

so arvin and kimmy, here's us giving our all out support and congratulations to the both of you! more years and wedding anniversaries to come! :)

i look wistfully at the picture and i remember vividly that day. it seems so far away now, and it has been just a week! it was bittersweet, my last day of vacation with the family. boo. :|

the scene caught my eye - a lady looking out at the horizon, a couple enjoying the sun, a friend taking their photo, a little girl making her castle. and there i was on the background, looking and an observer, an outsider zooming in their lives.

it reminds me how small the world is. and no matter what, at the end of the day, we are just neighbors on our walk in this life. on this earth.

first dinner with J's family without him. it was his brother's pre-birthday at Casa Verde. met someone for the first time too. ;)

and the dessert was a first too... it was so yummy, too bad i forgot what it was! i hope the next time i'd go there they have pictures on the menu so i'll just point and say "this one!". on second thought, i'll just have this pic for reference. whichever works! :p

my cousin and his wife got married on my parents' 27th anniversary, and on my cousin's late father's birthday.

27 years ago, when my parents got married, they sent the bouquet to be sent to my uncle's grave. this year, after my cousin's wedding, the bouquet was sent to my late auntie fely's grave.

it was a long walk to the grave, and so, crazy as we are, felice and i sneaked photos of us with the bouquet. blame it on our lack of exposure as flower girls? well, if you ever need flower girls, you know where to look. consider this post as our portfolio. :)
