Proj 17 of 365: Happy New Hair!!!

(04.25.09)
Long before the province-wide blackout was announced, I knew today's the day - I have to have my hair cut, a choice also shared by my friends.
The day didn't turn out as expected, even the mall was sooo hot I could feel the sweat trickling down my legs! It was almost dusk when the electricity flowed back again, I never felt so happier when I felt the change of power! So I rushed off (and ran) when I saw the salon has began operating.

This one's an after-shot of 3 good friends, Aye, James and Tee. After the effects of blow-dry and mousse. :D

Proj 16 of 365: Indulgence

(04.24.09)
After months of no-SB, I had to give in to my coffee cravings. No whipped cream though to take a bit of the guilt off. :D

Proj 15 of 365: Turning 12

(04.23.09)

A very Happy Birthday indeed to my teammate and friend, Marky, who Father Time gave an exception and is and forever will be 12.. Why's that? Ask him :D

Proj 14 of 365: All The Small Things

(04.22.09)
A snapshot of little items in my overhead shelf @ the office - each with a different story to tell. A collection of tiny bundles given by friends (mostly from the office), bringing with each a memory captured in a tiny piece.

Proj 13 of 365: Yum Yum Treat

(04.21.09)
Team lunch out @ newly opened Casa Verde's Ayala. I'll certainly miss these bonding moments we have but certainly, this won't be the last. :)
TImes may change but everything else remains the same.

(04.20.09)

Proj 11 of 365: On A Summer's Day

(04.19.09)
A walk in the sand on a summer's day.

The touch of the hot, powdery sand in your soles and the scorching rays in your face. The cool feel of water as you dip your feet. The splash of water as you wade into the water.

I'm loving every bit of summer. ;D

Proj 10 of 365: Let the Sun Shine On Me

Proj 9 of 365: Beach Essentials

(04.17.09)
a list of a few basic things you can find in my bag when i go to the beach:
.. goggles - you certainly don't want to miss out on the view while snorkeling.
.. moisturizer - to protect and moisturize your face after in the sun for soo long.
.. sun block - over and over again, we've heard about the sun's harmful UV rays. sun block will certainly protect us from that and let's us avoid the oh-so-painful sunburns as well.
.. cap - a colorful cap is a good fashion accessory and protects your head from the scorching heat.
.. lotion - moisturizer is to the face as lotion is to the skin. amen!
.. shades - shades definitely ups the glam factor while protecting your eyes from the sun.
.. head band - will keep unruly hair at bay.
.. swim suit - nothing says summer better than colorful swimwear :)
.. beach dress - something comfy to wear under the heat and easy to slip out on when it's time to go for a swim.
.. body spray -
a spritz of your favorite cool scent is something to look forward to while at the beach.
.. insect repellent - this will come handy to keep the insects at bay. you certainly don't want to look all red and splotchy from the insects feasting on your skin.
.. underwater cam case - you want to take a few snapshots of what's under the water. if you don't have a water-proof cam, an underwater cam case will be heaven's answer for that need and will certainly work like a charm. just make sure to check before and after every use as not to damage your equipment.

i think i've missed out a few must-have items in this picture and list. bottomline, don't forget to protect your skin and body while out there in the sun this summer.

and most of all, have fun and enjoy the company you have while getting your tan! :D

Proj 8 of 365: The Culprit

(04.16.09)
I've been cutting off my carb and sugar intake lately but then I've been wondering why my efforts haven't exactly paid off...

Then my officemate, Kimmy, shared a food pyramid guide on low-carb and sugar content foods and then to my amazement, banana was on top of the list! I've been putting off rice for B-A-N-A-N-A which has higher sugar/starch content than rice.
Phew!!! So here you go, ladies and gentlemen, the culprit... A very good tasting culprit, I must say :)

Proj 7 of 365: Blossoms

(04.15.09)
This is a familiar view on the way to the office. But like anything you see on a regular basis, is not exactly something you would take time to pause and look at and appreciate - especially that the tree with the colorful blossoms is unstrategically located at the busy junction where pedestrians rush to cross the street and motorists go with the flow of traffic.

I had my moment of pause and appreciation, though. This morning, when we were stopped by a red light. When I looked at the right, here it is, with its beauty.

Proj 6 of 365: What's for Dinner?

(04.14.09)
The friends4keeps
barkada gathered to meet Nyster who was in town for the Holy Week. Almost everybody who were based in Cebu were there, except for Erica, Jawo, Franse. I took this picture of the menu to distract the hunger pangs I was feeling at that time but that seemed to be a bad idea since the pictures reminded me of what I wanted to have. :)

All in all, the night was filled with fun, of laughs and giggles, of stories and a celebration of friendship.

Proj 5 of 365: All Stacked Up

(04.13.09)

I have a confession to make. I am a self confessed bookworm since the day I started reading in pre-school. At first it started with stories like Pinocchio, the Happy Prince and other tales. Then it progressed to schoolbooks (the English ones with stories on them). And the age of Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley, Hardy Boys. Then classics and romance novels and inspirational books. Then the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter saga and everything else.

Because I've been busy with other things for the past years (or so I tell myself), I've put off reading off my to-dos, except for the random once in a blue moon reads (magazines do not count). For this year, I've rekindled that yearning for a night's curl up with a book and started to read at least two books a month. Before, caffeine was the ultimate fix for me so a visit to Starbucks was inevitable, but now it seems a book has replaced that addiction and a visit to the bookstore's always a need.

There are those kinds of books that you'd gladly put all-nighters because you can't take your hands off it, and there are those and you'd like to get over with, and there are those that you'd want to savor the moment and take your time to flip from a page to the other.

Proj 4 of 365: Never Let Go

(04.12.09)
Hold my hand, and never let go :)

Holding hands is one of the simple gestures anyone of any age or status can do.

It could mean a lot of things -
friends enjoying each other's company,
family radiating warmth and love,
the fun and frolic of kids playing games,
a couple in love sharing their dreams,
offering encouragement to someone to move closer to their dreams,
a community extending and holding hands of faith and prayer,
and a sense of security to a child knowing someone's there to keep you safe.

Having someone to hold your hand is always an assurance
that you're not alone to face the world.

Proj 3 of 365: My Other Guy

(04.11.09)

i dated another guy today. and like my boyfriend, James, he is a gamer too...

i'd been waiting for several minutes and at last, he arrived clutching his GameBoy with his mommy in tow. you read it right, with his mommy in tow.

to clarify things, today, i went out with mareng mides and riz and with the little tyke, my inaanak, cj boi. ;) i especially miss spending time with the mother-son tandem since mides left abroad a couple of years ago and since she's on vacation now, r and i got a lovely excuse to meet up with her, catch up on each other's lives (we do keep in touch with technology - ym, facebook and emails. it's great but nothing still beats the face to face encounter) and relive the good old days.

for the several hours we spent together, just us three (without calai though), the world seemed to disappear and we were transported to high school - friends just hanging out and having girly talks and boisterous encounters.

then a voice wakes us up from our reverie, bringing us back to the present... the 6-year old, CJ, yells, "mommy, ninang, i wanna go to the playground now!" and so, off to the playground we obediently went :D

Proj 2 of 365: Fun Comes in a Variety of Colors

(04.10.09)

Life's little joys even comes in very small colorful bottles.

Actually, I cheated today. I already took my pic for the day this morning when we went to Koinonia Hill for Stations of the Cross. It was of a yellow flower amidst the green grass, much fitting to reflections for the Holy Week.

But this evening, Felice and I didn't have much to do and we ended up playing up and designing our nails. And so I ended up with this pic instead. This picture is representative of the fun I had with my sister in the few minutes we spent painting and designing our nails. I miss having all of these moments and her being around 24/7 since she's now based in Bohol.

I'd do anything just to have more of these girl bondings in the future, that's for sure.

Proj 1 of 365: The Gypsy With the Brown Hair

(04.09.09)
Seeing Badjaos, also called as the sea gypsies
is a common sight in the pier and since today I'm coming home to
Bohol for the Holy Week, this sight isn't an exception.

Aboard their boats, Badjaos in all ages call for attention
to the riding public, hoping to scrape a few bills.

It's always
a humbling and moving experience
for me to see them, especially little kids and babies
having to literally wait and depend on the goodness of strangers
to survive.

The sight always leaves me thankful of the needs that I have
and humbled for the petty complaints for wants that I don't.

project 365 - putting my cam to good use

i'll be starting this lil daily photo journal of everyday little things, captured in a snapshot.

this project, project 365, sounds fun and is a great way for me to improve the frustrated photographer in me (though i'd still rather be the model, thank you) and being a blogger, it will definitely take off the "writer's block" i feel when i run out of topics to write about. so it's basically hitting two stones in a shot.

it also feels like a very fun way to chronicle the year that was. i want to remember the days even if it were just an "ordinary" day, even how tiny and ordinary these days and mediocre details may be.

anyway, time flees to by and i don't wanna regret the time that passed. at least with this project, i'll be having 365 pixies to remind me of the experiences, people, places from the year that was. every moment does count after all.

interested to join as well? to know more about the project, see http://photojojo.com/content/tutorials/project-365-take-a-photo-a-day/

p.s.

thanks aye for getting me started! :)
